Studio Strings

Studio Strings is an immersive program that leads students in developing the technical and musical skills necessary to grow from an intermediate to advanced level on their string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass). The program is designed for youth ages 10-18 and provides the following for students:

  • weekly group technique classes on their primary instrument

  • weekly sectionals on their primary instrument with members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

  • weekly orchestra rehearsals

  • weekly chamber music and/or small group lessons

  • an instrument to check out for the school year

  • performance opportunities throughout the community

  • access to local concerts and other cultural events

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT

Each spring, Studio Strings students perform a side-by-side concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in which each student sits and performs next to a professional musician!
