Readiness Strings

The Readiness Strings program is designed to introduce students ages 6-9 to the joy of playing a string instrument. Students choose either violin or cello as their primary instrument of focus. The Readiness Strings program provides the following for students:

  • weekly small group technique classes on their primary instrument (violin or cello)

  • weekly large ensemble time including both violinists and cellists

  • a weekly musicianship class to work on ear training, note reading, rhythms, and other musical skills

  • an instrument to check out for the school year

  • performance opportunities throughout the community

  • access to local concerts and other cultural events

NEW THIS YEAR!

This year, ROCmusic is adding a new subsection within the Readiness Strings program entitled Studio Prep. The Studio Prep program is for beginners ages 10-18. Students in this program will still receive weekly technique, ensemble, and musicianship classes as listed above, but will be learning their chosen instrument with peers of a closer age. The program’s smaller class size will allow students to connect with one another and progress at a more accelerated pace.
